Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Al-Van Humane Society! Al-Van relies on volunteers to assist our small, hard working staff with the day-to-day care and enrichment of our animals, as they await their forever homes.
From assisting with animal enrichment, socialization, cleaning, and daily care tasks to helping at adoption events, community meet & greets, fundraising events, and transporting animals to medical appointments, volunteers make a direct impact on the lives of the pets in our care. Volunteers also assist with sorting and processing donations at Rescued Treasures Resale Shop.
To become a volunteer, complete our Volunteer Interest Form. Once submitted, a member of our team will contact you to schedule your Volunteer Orientation. Orientations are held every Thursday and Saturday at 11:00 AM. Volunteers must be 18+ or accompanied by a legal guardian.
Join one of our Volunteer Squads!
Volunteer Squads are small, interest-based groups designed to help our volunteers feel more connected, supported, and involved in the work they care about most. Whether you love getting creative, working hands-on with animals, or helping out at events, there’s a Squad for you.
By joining a Squad, you’ll have more opportunities to connect with staff and fellow volunteers, participate in group meetups and trainings, and play a more active role in helping our animals thrive. There’s no pressure to join, just a chance to be part of something a little more personal.
Marketing Squad
Love getting creative? The Marketing Squad helps share the stories of our animals and the impact of our work. From social media content to special campaigns, this Squad is perfect for volunteers who want to use their camera and creativity to make a difference. The full squad meets quarterly to brainstorm and plan, while members can volunteer independently on a flexible schedule throughout the year.
Events Team
Our Event Team helps bring the community together in support of the shelter. From adoption events to fundraisers, these volunteers play a key role in creating fun, welcoming experiences while helping more animals find loving homes. Volunteers participate as events are scheduled, with periodic trainings and meet-ups offered throughout the year to build skills, share ideas, and stay connected.
P.A.W.S. Team
The Play, Activity, Wellness & Socialization Team (AKA P.A.W.S.) focuses on enrichment and quality of life for the animals in our care. Volunteers in this Squad help provide mental and physical stimulation through activities, helping reduce stress and bring out each animal’s unique personality. The P.A.W.S. Team meets monthly with our Enrichment Coordinator for planned outings and activities.
