Animal Fostering

E-mail Print PDF

Fostering an animal in need of shelter, love and guidance is a time-consuming effort, but it's also one of the most rewarding ways to help homeless pets.  Providing a "stepping stone" for animals in search of permanent homes saves lives, alleviates the strain on animal shelters, helps set the stage for successful adoptions.  Fostering provides a stimulating, home-like environment to our animals and helps gets them ready to be adopted.  Sometimes we have new mothers and their babies that need a home to stay in until the puppies or kittens are old enough to be adopted, some just need time to heal from an illness.  Of course, fostering can be a major commitment, and we are looking for people who are ready to provide a loving and safe environment for our animals.  Fostering can range anywhere from 1 week to 8 weeks, it depends on the need of that particular animal.

To receive information about becoming a foster parent for the Al-Van Humane Society please read the documents below.  If you are interested in being a foster parent and would like to set up an interview or have additional questions please contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
