Al-Van Humane Society is amoung the many shelters and rescues that are very concerned about toddler/puppy adoptions. Sure it's a cute picture but statistics show it usually doesn't work out.

Things to consider before bringing a puppy into your toddlers home...

• Puppies are puppies, they jump and scratch
• Toddlers are toddlers, they pull tails and ears and want to "investigate" the puppy. (Puppies do NOT like to be investigated!)
• Puppies will have "accidents" on the same carpet your toddler will play on
• Puppies will chew toddler's toys
• Puppies will take treats from people of their own height, and toddlers will eat from a bowl that can be reached
• Separating puppy from toddler will cause puppy to become uptight and unhappy due to lack of attention and exercise
